Arthur Vadnais

December 23, 1928 — December 24, 2019

Arthur “Art” Edmund Vadnais, age 91, of New Hope and formerly of Crosslake died December 24, 2019 at St. Therese Care Center in New Hope.

Art was born on December 23, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Edmund and Christine (Bain) Vadnais. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Art married Joyce Fischer on December 28, 1953 at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in South Minneapolis. He worked as Director of Special Programs for Vocational Education for the State of Minnesota Department of Education; where he wrote programs for retraining and setting standards for state schools. Art was on the President’s Council under Ronald Reagan for Vocational Education. He worked at the education building at the fair for over 20 years. Art taught his children the value of a strong work ethic and education will bring you anywhere in your life. He was also very involved in the Parish Council and lifelong member of St. Kevin’s Catholic Church in South Minneapolis. Art was instrumental in establishing the Crosslake Library.  He enjoyed fishing, growing (almost award winning) tomatoes, and photography. Art was social, funny, hardworking, and generous. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce; children, Julie (Gary) Noor of Crystal, Steve (Vicki) Vadnais of Richfield; grandchildren, Chad (Margaret), Nick, Nicole, Travis; great grandson, Ethan; and greatly anticipated the birth of his second great grandchild in February. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marilyn Bell, Anne Vadnais, and Jean Vadnais.
