William Steuber

William "Bill" Steuber, 96, of Crosslake, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at Golden Horizons Assisted Living. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 4, 2013 at Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake with Pastor Leslie Uhrinak officiating. Family and friends are welcome to visit Thursday evening at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake from 4-8 PM, with remembrance service at 7 PM, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment will be at 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Princeton, MN.

Bill was born February 17, 1916, in Hibbing, MN, the son of George H. and Hulda A. (Moerke) Steuber. Following his high school graduation in 1933 from Hibbing High School, Bill continued his education at the University of Minnesota obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in 1938 and a Master's Degree in 1946. He began his career teaching Agriculture and Science in Long Prairie and St. Cloud. Later, he was involved with sales, design engineering and research development throughout the U.S. and Canada. In addition, he also continued to teach Machine Shop and Auto Shop at North High School in Minneapolis. In 1984, he retired.

He served as a Captain in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Crosslake American Legion, Post 500. Bill married Virginia Weisbrod on June 15, 1946 in Mason City, IA. The couple raised their family in the Minneapolis area, before moving to Hamlet Lake in Deerwood, MN when Bill retired. Bill was an avid crossword enthusiast.

He will be missed by his wife, Virginia; children, Betsy (Tony) Del Vecchio, of Chadds Ford, PA, George (Patricia) Steuber, of Phenix City, AL, and Carrie (Richard Rostad) Ruud, of Breezy Point; grandchildren, Brian Etchieson, Sarah Marlow, Anthony Del Vecchio, Bill Steuber, Jon Steuber, RJ Ruud, and Adam Ruud; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ginger Steuber; and sisters, Elizabeth Haugland and Dorothy Alleman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN.
