William Schroeder

April 19, 1931 — March 3, 2009

William "Bill" Schroeder, 77, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at his home in Crosslake , MN. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 9th at 1 pm at Crosslake Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8th from 5 to 7 pm at Brenny's Funeral Chapel of Crosslake, and one hour prior to services on Monday.
William George Schroeder was born to George and Florence (Anderson) Schroeder on April 19, 1931 in Minneapolis, MN, where he grew up. He joined the Air Force and served as a flight engineer from 1951 to 1955. Bill was united in marriage to Geraldine GerryPeters on June 25, 1960. He worked as a union floor layer in the Twin Cities until retiring in 1991 and moving to Crosslake.

Bill and Gerry enjoyed singing in their church choir. He volunteered at Camp Knutson. Bill was a wood maker who enjoyed making incredible furniture. He was a master fixer-upperwho helped countless friends and neighbors. Bill enjoyed snowmobiling and water skiing. He loved boating and spending time with his family. Bill was a soft spoken man with a kind heart.

He is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Gerry; sons, William (Jennifer) Schroeder and their daughter Emily, of Pequot Lakes, MN, and Robert (Soloan) Schroeder and their son Dexter, of Dayton, MN; and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Ruth (Harvey) Wick of Altoona, WI, Jackie (Stan) Mueller of Robbinsdale, MN, Helen Peters of Chanhassen, MN; and brother-in-law Tom Peters of Las Vegas, NV.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Harry and Ruth Peters, brother-in-law Harry Peters, and sister-in-law Penny Peters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice, the Oncology Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital in Brainerd, and Crosslake Lutheran Choir Robe Fund.
