William Pribbenow

William ?Bill? Pribbenow, 85, Motley, Mn, died May 8, 2005 at the Hilltop Care Center in Watkins.
Bill was born on February 16, 1920 in Staples, son of Otto and Wilhelmina (Bristlin) Pribbenow. He was united in marriage to Frances Mary Monty on June 9, 1947. Bill served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne as a light machine gunner from 1942 till 1945 when he was honorably discharged with a Certificate of Disability with the following decorations and citations, AM Theater of Services Ribbon; Good Conduct Ribbon; Purple Heart; European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with one Bronze Star. Bill participated in the D Day invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944 and was critically wounded on June 10, 1944. After his discharge, he worked for the US Postal Service in Motley. His family moved to Mound where he worked for the Tonka Corp. until his retirement then returned to Motley. They recently moved to Watkins to be near his family. Bill was a member of St Johns Lutheran Church in Watkins, former member of St Peter Lutheran Church in Randall, life member of the VFW in Randall, DAV of Little Falls, 101st Airborne, Randall Senior Citizens. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and reading.

Bill is survived by his wife, Frances; 1 son, Wm (Vicki) Pribbenow;1 daughter, Mary (John) Dietman; 1 grandson, Christopher Pribbenow; 1 great granddaughter, Macala; 3 sisters, Sophia Schwitalla, Florence (Bill) Berndt, Lydia (Clifford) Goodwater; 2 brothers, David Pribbenow, Willis Pribbenow. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters; Mabel Thorn, Dorothy Beeson, 2 brothers; John and Arthur Pribbenow.
