William Peter

William “Bill” E. Peter, 90, of Fifty Lakes, MN died at his home on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Services for Bill will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN with visitation beginning one hour prior to services at the chapel.

Bill was born on August 30, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN to Arthur and Gladys (Anderson) Peter. He graduated from St. Paul Central High School in 1944. Bill was a director for his band, Traveling Light. He and his band members used to practice in his parent’s parlor. Bill served in The United States Navy. He worked for Union Brass as an accountant. He then was the purchasing agent for American Hoist and Derrick. He began working for the City Of St. Paul as the director of purchasing and worked there until he retired at the age of 63. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved building and he built his first cabin and garage.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joan of Fifty Lakes, MN; son, William “Bill” (Maureen) Peter Jr. of East Bethel, MN; grandchildren, Lauren and Billy Peter; sister, Patricia Thiers of Shoreview, MN; and his nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gladys Peter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
