William E. "Al" Mitton, age 92 of Hackensack, died if natural causes on Tues., May 17, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Walker, MN. Al was born March 19, 1919 in Staples, to William and Eunice Mitton. After serving in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific arena, he graduated from the U. of M. with an accounting degree and a Masters in Business Administration. He was a CPA with his own firm located in Minneapolis, before retiring to McKeown Lake in the early 1980's.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Magdalene, and brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife, Mary Luella Mitton, of Kearney Neb.; sons: Steve (Patty) of Jordan, MN, Gregory of St. Paul; daughter Linda (Paul) Imbertson of Inver Grove Heights, MN; his brother, Duane Mitton of Nisswa; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Al maintained a section of the North Country Trail and volunteered doing taxes at the Hackensack senior center.
Memorials should be directed to the North Country Trail Assn. Private family services will be held at a later date.
