William Hedstrom

William "Sandy" Hedstrom, age 59, of Backus, passed away February 15, 2009. He was born April 8, 1949, in Washington state. He served in the Marine Corp in Viet Nam. After the war he returned to Washington and worked as a truck driver. He moved to Dalton, MN, where he worked for Premier Enterprises. He met and married Nina Botz on February 5, 1985, in Bemidji. They moved to Backus where he worked in home care, cooked and was "Mr. Mom".
Sandy enjoyed radio controlled airplanes, painting, gardening, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with his kids.
He is survived by wife, Nina of Backus; children: Dawn Green (Al) of Washington, Michael Hedstrom (Lynn) of Waite Park, Chynna Hedstrom and Kirsten Hedstrom of Backus; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Sylvia Hedstrom.
Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, February 21 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Backus. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
