Wilbur Harrison Wright, 84, of Staples, Minnesota, son of Beatty and Fannie (Rowe) Wright of Cavode, Pennsylvania, went home to be with the Lord early in the morning on Sunday, December 20, 2015, surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Wilbur will be 10:00AM, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Thomastown Covenant Church in Staples, MN with Pastor Nathan Hillman officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services for visitation. Interment will be at Thomastown Covenant Church Cemetery. Military Honors provided by Wadena VFW Post #3922.
Wilbur was born on July 5, 1931, in Bridger Montana. As a child his family moved to Glad, Arkansas, and later to Cavode, Pennsylvania, where he grew up. Wilbur enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1952 and is a Korean War veteran. He met Ruth Marie Peace in 1953 and they were married on May 28, 1955. The Lord blessed this union with four children. In 1972, the family moved to Cabool, Missouri, where he farmed and worked in construction. In 1980, Wilbur and Ruth moved to the Thomastown community near Staples, Minnesota where he pursued his career as a contractor.
Wilbur gave his life to the Lord at a tent revival in Pennsylvania. He lived his life as a faithful servant of God. Wilbur was a member of the Thomastown Covenant Church from 1980 until his passing where he served as a deacon, a trustee, and a Sunday school teacher for many of those years. In fact, Wilbur even assisted in the construction of the church building and its expansion.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Ruth; his 4 children, Terry of Monett, Mo, Timothy (and wife Dawn) of Nixa, Mo, Rex (and wife Annette) of Staples, MN, Jeanne of Sacramento, CA; eleven grandchildren; several grandchildren-in-laws, and one great grandchild. He is also survived by extended family and many, many friends. His parents; and all six of his brothers and sisters preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Thomastown Covenant Church, in care of the Wilbur H. Wright Memorial Bible Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
