Wilbur "Will" Lloyd Pounds, 65, died on April 2, 2009, at North West Hospital in North Seattle, after a long illness. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at the United Methodist Church in Staples, Minnesota, with the Reverend Wes Johnson Officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Will was born April 16, 1943, in Bertha, MN. He was the oldest of three children. Will attended Staples High School and graduated in 1962. He married Joy Moulton, moved to California, divorced and moved to Washington where he resided in Everett at time of death. Will played drums in various bands over the years, worked for a cellular company, and also in an ER room with the Anesthesiology department in Washington. He was talented and when very young entertained by being a ventriloquist. He had many hobbies, including; electronics, building his own telescope, and in later teen years was a drummer with various Midwest country rock bands. He continued playing drums over the years, and met many people from the entertainment field in California. A highlight in Will's life, in later years, was attending the Minnesota Rock Country Hall of Fame music awards show first held in St. Joseph, MN, then Medina, MN each May. He loved seeing and visiting with his former musician friends during the show. Will was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the program.
Will loved his friends and family, talking on the phone each day and liked computers and chatting on yahoo, liked photography and amateur radio. He was outgoing and fun to be around always the life of the party. Will was kindhearted and would do anything to help his friends and family
Will is survived by brother, Jerry, Blaine, MN, sister, Joanne, Moorhead, MN and nephews, Jeff, Brad, Terry, Jerry, Tony and Chad, great nephews and nieces and many cousins, and Aunt Betty, Uncle Chet of Moorhead, MN and Aunts and Uncles in Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Nina Pounds.
