Wayne A Stewart, Sr., 64, of Crosby, died at his home Saturday, February 9, 2008 with his daughter, Rita, and son-in-law, Keith, by his side. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, with Father Mike Patullo officiating. In lieu of flowers, Waynes family requests memorial donations to the Wayne A. Stewart Medical Scholarship Fund at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. Wayne was born in Minneapolis on July 16, 1943 to Willis and Rita (Held) Stewart. After graduating from Vocational High School and Technical Institute in 1962, Wayne attended St. Johns University in 1963. He was an active member of the Plymouth and Brainerd Lakes Area communities for many years. Starting in 1968, Wayne owned and operated Stewart Wholesale Meats in Minneapolis. From 1973 1978, he was a City Commissioner in Plymouth, where he served on the Planning Committee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1984 he retired from his meat business and moved to Crosby. In 1987, he acquired his real estate license and was a broker and residential property manager in the Brainerd area. He was a private pilot for many years, and was a member of the Crow Wing County Regional Airport Commission. Wayne served as a board member for Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby from 1987 until the present. Wayne was a fair and honest man. He was a well-respected man who believed deeply in community involvement. If you were lucky enough to really get to know Wayne you would find a friend with no conditions. His passion, when he wasnt fishing or camping, was the ever-changing world of technology. Wayne also had a thirst for knowledge and was well-read and self-taught. Wayne will be fondly remembered and missed by his children, Jerry (Barb) Stewart, of Champlin, LeeAnn Stewart, of Ocala, FL, Rita-Kay (Keith) Hinchman, of Camden, NC, and Wayne A. Stewart, Jr, of Crosby; his father, Willis Stewart; his grandchildren, Chad, Jared, Michella, and Haden; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin and Addison. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Smith; his brother, Glen Stewart; and his step-father, Winifred, SmittySmith.
