Warren E. Johnson, age 85, of Silver Bay, passed away on Monday Nov 13, at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 1:00 in Silver Bay at the Sychar Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Warren E. Johnson was born on March 2, 1921 in Wahpeton, ND to the late Oscar and Minnie (Nelson) Johnson. Following his mothers death he moved to Kansas and lived with his uncle. He entered the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) and fought forest fires, drove trucks and heavy equipment building roads. At the age of 19 he entered the Merchant Marines. He served in WWII in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, and Pacific. He was united in marriage to Anna Elizabeth Mac Pherson in March, of 1949, in New York. They lived in Alaska, Chicago, Duluth, Michigan, then settled at Silver Bay in 1955. He worked for an electrical contractor during the conservation of Reserve Mining. He then retired as foreman in the power plant. He is a member of the Sychar Lutheran Church, he enjoyed his family and especially the grandchildren, and wintering in Deming, New Mexico. He is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Katie(Ted) Haiden of Minneapolis; one son, Philip Johnson of New Hope; one sister, Bernielle Gast of Fergus Falls, Neota Chap of Washington; one daughter-in-law, Carol (Dean) Griffith of Staples; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Anna, of 45 years; one son, Thomas Andrew; one grandson Rick Haiden; and 9 brothers and sisters.
