Warren Benedict

Warren Benedict, 71, of Baxter, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinsons and Dementia at his home Friday, January 3, 2014. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter or Minnesota Parkinson's Foundation.

Warren was born January 6, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Warren E. and Clara (Okstad) Benedict. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1960. On January 19, 1963, he married the love of his life Carroll Flatgard in Minneapolis, MN. Warren was self-employed for over 40 years. He was a charter member of Lord of Life Church, Friday Morning Men's Bible Group, and an active member of Silver Sneakers as long as his health allowed. He attended a Parkinson's Support Group in Baxter and was the Honorary Chairman of the Board for Mall Walkers at Westgate Mall. Family was very important to Warren - he was loving, caring, and devoted.

He will be missed by his wife, Carroll; children, Gregory (Jennifer), of Hibbing, Michael (Heide), of Brainerd, and Dawn (LeRoy Hammond,) of Brainerd; grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Katherine, Ashley, Reilly, Griffin, and Elliot; sister, Mary Lou Benedict (Elmer Worm); sister-in-law, LeeAnn (Craig) Blowers; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Kim) Flatgard and Jerry (Nancy) Flatgard; and many nephews, grand-nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother and infant niece.
