Walter Franklin Berg, age 78, of Deerwood died Friday, October 6, 2001 at his home. Services will be private, with interment in the Norwegian Cemetery in Grove City, MN. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
Walter Franklin Berg was born on November 2, 1922 in Kandiyohi County, to Charlie and Mary (Olson) Berg. He grew up and attended school in Bemidji. He served in the US Army Air Corp in the South Pacific from 1941-1946. Following his honorable discharge he attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, earning a Bachelor?s Degree in Physical Education. He was recognized as the top salesman in America for Borden, a water softener company. He worked for Fisher Construction in Minneapolis for 20 years, as a superintendent and personnel manager. He retired to the Deerwood area, where he enjoyed fishing.
Walter is survived by a son, John Berg, of Arden Hills. His parents preceded him in death.
