Wallace Downing

Wallace "Bud" W. Downing, age 90, of Palisade, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society-Bethany, on February 21. 2013. Services will be held at a later date.

Bud, was born on November 26, 1922, at the Cook County Hospital, in Chicago, IL. He was born and raised in Chicago. He married Florence Hartman on October 2, 1951, at the Sand Lake Church in Aitkin County. He worked as a bus driver, truck driver, and then worked as a Garage Manager for Yellow Cab Company until his retirement in 1970. Bud had a love of travel and loved to drive. He and Florence had visited every state in the US, except Hawaii, as well as much of Canada and Mexico.

Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence; daughters, Renita O'Connell of Chicago, IL and Cheryl (Chris) Gray of Glenview, IL; 4 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn Boosey of Barrington, IL and Mary Moniak of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Charles and Raymond.
