Waldemar Anderson

Waldemar "Wally" Anderson, 82, of Staples, MN died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. A Memorial Service for Wally will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, with Pastor Steve Sveom and Pastor Gene Floistad officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services for visitation. Military Honors provided by Wadena VFW Post#3922.

Wally was born March 17, 1933 in Evansville, MN to William and Laura (Olson) Anderson. He graduated from high school in 1951 and went on to serve in the US Army in Germany from 1951 to 1955. Wally was united in marriage to VerNel Haraldson on October 3, 1955 in Elbow Lake, MN. They moved to Staples and lived on North 7th Street. Wally worked at the creamery in Staples, delivered propane, worked for the City of Staples in the Utilities Department, and at Sterns Rubber, where he retired from 20 years ago. Wally enjoyed riding motorcycle, tinkering in his shop, fixing anything from cars to lawnmowers, and taking drives out to the river, just to sit and enjoy the view.

Wally is survived by his wife, VerNel of Staples; children, Cheryl Kosowski of South St. Paul, MN, Kim (Paul) Gerou of Brooklyn Park, MN, Pam Eckland of Grafton, ND, Dar Anderson of Staples, MN, Mike (Angela) Anderson of Cushing, MN; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Ron (Lois) Anderson of Rosholt, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura Anderson, brother, Jerry Anderson and son in law, Tom Kosowski. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
