W. LeRoy Osterloh, age 89, of Pine River, MN, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. He was born November 17, 1918 in Hecla, SD, to Henry H. and Vera Osterloh. He married Vergene Noble on November 19, 1939. They lived in South Dakota where LeRoy farmed, and was a Phillips 66 jobber in Madison. He owned several service stations in South Dakota and Minnesota. They moved to Hackensack, MN, in 1970 where they operated Sunset Bay Resort. LeRoy also built the Birch Lake Apartments in Hackensack. After retiring, they moved to Riverside Villa in Pine River. LeRoy was a member of Union Congregational Church in Hackensack, was a charter member of the Hackensack Lions and Pine River Country Club, and served as director of the Pine River State Bank for several years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and card player.
He is survived by sons: Jerry Osterloh (Cathy) of Pine River, Rod Osterloh (Jody) of Pine River, Corwin Osterloh (Arvie) of Winona, MN; sister, Vera Fern Elsen of Hecla, SD; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vergene; son, Wendell; grandson, Andrew; and brothers, Virgil and Robert.
Services will be 2 PM on Friday, December 14 at Union Congregational Church in Hackensack, with Pastor Michael Small officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
