Vivian (Satherlie) Tweedy, age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2016, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Brainerd. She was born Vivian Clarice Wannebo on July 22, 1919, in Clear Lake, WI, to Otto and Myrle Wannebo. Her family moved around a lot but settled in Minneapolis where she graduated from high school at South High. She married her high school sweetheart, LeRoy Satherlie, in 1943. Vivian installed radios in the nose of airplanes during World War II. She fit in the cockpit because she was so petite.
After the war they moved up North to the Manhattan Beach area where she lived the rest of her days. She was active in the community especially with the youth of the area with ice skating parties, roller skating, teaching band instruments, Vacation Bible School and Sunday school. Viv was active in the church circles and driving the ladies to sew at the State Hospital in Brainerd. She was a speed skater in her youth and was winning the 20 and older roller skating race when she fell and broke her wrist at age 60+. She also enjoyed horseback riding and snowmobiling. She was a Psychiatric Technician at the Brainerd State Hospital.
LeRoy passed away in 1983 and in 1986 she married Conway Tweedy, a master carver, who passed away in 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Janis (Paul) Allen; son, David Satherlie; grandchildren: Shari (Larry) Curell, Scott Rubey, Susan (Chris) Gudim, Meggan Satherlie, Graham (Christine) Satherlie; great grandchildren: Nichole Weber, Emily Weber, Darrian Droher, Denika Droher, Taylor Droher, Dakota Droher, Ty Gudim, Bailey Gudim, Eliana Satherlie; great-great grandchildren: Gauge Weber, Ariana Laske, Aliyah Laske; brother, Curt (Dorothy) Wannebo; brother-in-law, Lon Musolf; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters, Lucy Thomson, Dona Musolf; brother, Guy Wannebo; infant brother, Leslie Wannebo; brother-in-law, George Thomson; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Wannebo; inlaws: Art and Eleanor Suneson, Cliff and Betty Franzen, Kenneth Satherlie; niece, Karen Davidson; and nephew, Bruce Godfrey.
Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Swanburg, 10973 County Road 1, Pine River, on Saturday, August 20 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be Friday, August 19 at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River from 5-7 p.m.
