Virginia Mae Dolmar, of Crosslake, died March 28, 2016. Born December 4, 1930 to Walter and Lucreaty Althaus, she was raised by Walter's brother Charlie and his wife Lettie in Minneapolis where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948. She worked as a clerk at a bank and a Veteran's Administration hospital before marrying Roy Dolmar, with whom she had three children in the suburb of Richfield. She loved gardening, animals, volunteering in the community, reading, and most especially cooking. Her meals were legendary among family and friends alike. She retired to Crosslake in 1989, and was a member of the start-up committee that gathered the initial funds and approval for the Crosslake Library. She was particularly fond of the patio out back of the Library where there is a waterfall and plantings by the Crosslake Garden Club, of which she also was an active member. Memories of her may be particularly strong in that place, if one brings a book and reads awhile, and contemplates the ease and hospitality of the most generous sort of human soul. Virginia was preceded in death by her children Christopher and Diane (Srdar), her husband of 59 years Roy, and her brother Arthur Althaus. She is survived by her youngest son, Daniel, of Redding, California; grandchildren Joseph Hanson, Dawn Dolmar, and Mary Jane, Anthony, Lauren, Jessica, and Kelly Srdar; and four great-grandchildren.
