Virginia Begin, 79, of Ft. Ripley, died Tuesday, October 7, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Virginia Dale Rosene was born October 31, 1923 in Grey Eagle, to Clarence and Grace (Sabart) Rosene. She attended grade school in Grey Eagle, and then moved with her family to Minneapolis, where she graduated high school. She served in the Air Force from 1945-46. She was united in marriage to Marvin Begin on April 11, 1960, in Rochester. The couple lived in Minneapolis, where Virginia worked as a restaurant manager for a short time. They moved to Arizona in 1969 and then to Ft. Ripley in 1987. Virginia was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church. She was a very generous, giving person, who believed in putting others first. She was an active volunteer for the Crow Wing County Historical Museum, and helped at the courthouse during tax season. As a volunteer for RSVP, she made more than 500 teddy bears for Crow Wing County?s trauma bear program, and she made hundreds of lap robes for area nursing homes. She loved outdoor activities and nature.
Marvin Begin, her husband of 43 years; two daughters, Susan Hartman, of Brainerd, and Lisa Begin Sutter, of Florida; a son, Douglas Minke, of Oregon; 5 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren survive Virginia. Her parents; a daughter, Cheryl; and a grandson, Mark, preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 11, 11 AM, at St. Andrew?s Catholic Church in Brainerd, with Father Bill Skarich and Reverend Doctor Paul Fruth concelebrating. Friends may visit Friday, October 10, 5-8 PM, with parish prayers at 7, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, and for one hour prior to Saturday?s service. Interment will be at Grey Eagle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
