Violet L. Dukowitz, age 93, of Motley, passed away late Saturday afternoon at her home at Harmony House in Motley. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, at the Church of Christ in Staples. Interment will be in the Motley Public Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples and for one hour prior to Services at the Church on Wednesday. Violet Lorraine Dukowitz was born on May 13, 1914, in Fawn Lake Township, Todd County, MN, the daughter of Samuel and Della (Welch) Killian. She grew up in Philbrook and on the Iron Range, moving back to Philbrook in her early teens. On February 14, 1931, she was united in marriage to Theodore Dukowitz. To this union 10 children were born. They were able to celebrate 61 years of marriage together before Ted died on June 3, 1992. They farmed and raised their children on the family farm near Motley. Among the things Violet enjoyed were birds, animals, crafts, flowers, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Della; her husband, Ted; a son, Bernard; daughter, Laverne; brothers, Merle, Carl, and Floyd Killian; sister, Lillian Cin, and grandchildren. Violet is mourned in passing by 8 children, Lillian (Melvin) Smith of Motley, Richard (Marlene) Dukowitz of Staples, Donna (Bill) Smith of Motley, Ronald (Bev) Dukowitz of Staples, Eleanore (Lee) Auel of Pillager, Michael Dukowitz of Princeton, Annette (Merle) Vensland of Motley, Kenneth (Mary) Dukowitz of Motley, many, many grandchildren, many, many great grandchildren, and many, many great- greatgrandchildren.
