Violet Elizabeth Dalquist, 96-year-old resident of Little Falls, formerly of Randall, passed away on June 11, 2015. She was born in the rural farming community near Oakland, NE, on Nov. 29, 1918. She lived in Omaha, NE, over eight years, where she did domestic work, went to Boyles Business College, graduated with an accounting major in 1942, and worked in the accounting department (essential war work) of what was then the Glenn L. Martin - Nebraska Company (now many successions later the Lockheed Martin Company) for four years during World War II. The company produced the B29 bombers that were so instrumental in winning World War II.
On June 16, 1946, she and David A. Dalquist were married in Oakland, NE. They lived on their dairy farm at Randall, MN, until his death at age 75 on Dec. 14, 1981.
In 1982 she moved from the farm to the new house of her own design in Randall, where she lived for 24 years. She was excellent at cooking and baking. In 2006, she sold the house and moved to a townhouse in Little Falls. She moved to assisted living at Bridgeway in Little Falls in Feb. 2011.
She served for ten years as treasurer of Randall Presbyterian Church, 1968 - 1978, in the years after the building of the new Church. She worked 6 ½ years for Youth for Christ in Little Falls in the late 1970's. She was host to a weekly Bible Study in her home in the 1980's. She was keen to attend the Wed. afternoon Bible study at Bridgeway and the Sunday evening vesper services at the other assissted living locations. She was strong in her faith. Others in the community remember her kindness and her Christian witness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Dalquist, by her parents, Carl S. and Hedvig A. Jacobson, and by her sister Eva Burnett and her brother Everett Jacobson. She is survived by four children, David D. of Plymouth, MN; Douglas E. (Donja) of Sooke, British Columbia, Canada; Dale A. (Kathy) of Randall, MN; and Elizabeth E. (Gerry) Bermel of Fergus Falls, MN; all ten of her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Ben) Patten, Tim (Andrea) Bermel, Maribeth (Jeff) Frost, and Anthony (Hannah) Bermel; James Dalquist, Rachael (Nicholas) Koppendrayer , and Michael Dalquist; and Nels (Michelle) Dalquist Veliquette, Chloe Blokker-Dalquist, and Emily Blokker-Dalquist; and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are at Brenny Funeral Home in Randall, memorial service at Randall Presbyterian Church, burial in Randall Cemetery.
