Viola Breitling

Viola V. Breitling, 86, of Verndale, Passed away at the Lakewood Hospital in Staples, on Sunday, April 7, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wadena, with Pastor Nate Loer officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be at Wadena Cemetery, in Wadena following the service.

Viola was born to Samuel and Rose (Spier) Weidderich on April 6, 1927 in Zap, ND. She was united in marriage to Richard Breitling, on July 14, 1946 in Dodge, ND. Viola has always cared for those around her. During her life, she farmed with her husband, and worked in various hospitals and nursing homes. She also worked as a cook and even sewed for an airplane factory. When she retired in 1978, she cared for her grandchildren and loved to garden, crochet and quilting. When she came out of retirement, she became a Senior Companion and created many new friendships. Her final eight years were spent caring for her husband until he passed away in January of 2013.

She is survived by her children, Lester (Diane) Breitling, Richard (Karen) Breitling; sister, Gertrude (Bill) Heidinger; 4 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Rose; husband of 66 years, Richard; daughter, Sandra; son, Daniel; 1 sister and 1 brother.
