Vicki Lynn (Oldewurtel/Prahm) Klemme, passed away on September 13, 2019 in Brainerd, MN. Vicki was born to Ernest and Margaret (Schmidt) Oldewurtel in Slayton, MN on August 2, 1952. She was the youngest of six.
Psalm 46:10 – Be still and know that I am God is a verse that defines who Vicki was. She met many obstacles and struggles in her life, but she never allowed herself to become a victim of them. Anyone who told Vicki she couldn’t do something, quickly learned how determined and fiercely stubborn she could be; a quality that allowed her to succeed in life. This made her quite the role model and a woman who many admired, respected, and looked up to. She always remained strong in her faith and did all she could to spread the message of Christ. She served her church community as a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, Ladies Aid member, greeter, and was a board member. Her smile and infectious laugh will be missed by many.
Family was important to Vicki. She raised her children as a single mother and always put their needs before her own. One of her biggest regrets, while unwarranted, was not being able to do more for them. She cherished her husband Glen, who passed just two months prior to her. Loving him brought joy to Vicki. To no one’s surprise, Glen’s needs were more important to Vicki than her own. Vicki was a caregiver by nature. Her profession as a registered nurse and certified diabetic educator allowed her to do what came naturally to her. After losing her eyesight she specialized in teaching blind diabetics. She always made sure that those around her were comforted and cared for.
Vicki is preceded in death by her husband Glen Klemme; parents, Ernest and Margaret; sisters Mayreen Sievers and Violet Simm; and brother Keith Oldewurtel.
Vicki is survived by her daughter Jessie (Dennis) Miles; son Jeremy (Alicia) Prahm; grandchildren Walter, Margaret, and Oscar; sister Arlie Muecke-Sellevold; brother Floyd Oldewurtel; sister in law Lois Oldewurtel; brother-in-laws Bill Simm and Bill Sievers; Glen’s children, Kendal Zoeller (Matt & Mya), Deacon Klemme (Kendra, Annika & Axel), Jodi Klemme(Carlos Perez); and many nieces, nephews and God-children.
