Vernon T. Whistler, 89, Staples, died Tuesday January 24th at Lakewood Health System. He was born on November 21st 1922 in St Paul, MN. Vernon was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was at Tokyo Bay for the Japanese surrender. After his military career Vernon spent over 30 years in Law Enforcement and Corrections in the State of Minnesota. Vernon is preceded in death by his wife Edna (Jackson) Whistler. Survivors include his three sons, James Whistler, Staples, Robert Whistler, Brainerd, Michael Whistler, Brainerd and his two daughters, Patricia (Whistler) Taylor, Marietta, GA. and Cheryl Whistler, Staples his seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A private service will be held on Saturday January 28th, 2012 at 10am at Brenny Funeral Chapel.
