Vernon Welch

Vernon D. Welch, 76, of Nimrod MN died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his home. Services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 11:00 am at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Dr. Mounds View, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to service Vernon was born on May 3, 1937 in Meadowbrook Township, Cass County, MN to Clarence and Mamie (Severeid) Welch. After graduating from High School, Vernon entered the United States Air Force, serving his country for 4 years. In the mid 1970’s he moved to Coon Lake Beach, MN. Vernon was a commercial painter for District Council #82 in the Twin Cities until his retirement . In 2004 he and Audrey moved to rural Nimrod MN. lHe was passionate about the outdoor and nature and enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as all the wildlife and birds. Vernon is survived by his significant other, Audrey Boyd of Nimrod MN; children, Wendy (Aaron) Blood of East Bethel, MN, and Bob (Sonya) Welch of Blaine, MN; step-children, Kevin Boyd (Kamme) of Clear Lake, WI, Angela (Matt) Fleury of South St. Paul, MN, sister, Vivian Gillespie of Blaine, MN; grandchildren, Dustin and Victor Blood;, Dylan Boyd and Ethan Fleury as well as several very special step children, step grandchildren and nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Loren.
