Vernon Fanjoy

Vernon T. Fanjoy, age 76, of Brainerd, MN died Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd. Memorial services will be Saturday, October 6, 11:00 AM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with Captain Paul Ferguson officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Riverside Union Cemetery in Brainerd, at a later date. Arrangements are with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
Vernon T. Fanjoy was born on August 18, 1925 in Sanford, Maine, to William and Margaret (Thompson) Fanjoy. During WWII, he served in the Merchant Marines aboard the USS Elliot. Following his honorable discharge, he worked as a machinist in the shipyards in Vallejo, CA. He was married to Ila (Doust) Fanjoy in Martinez, CA on December 8, 1960. He worked as a security officer for Union Oil. In 1967 he moved to Brainerd, where he worked at the Brainerd Regional Human Services Center as a Nursing Assistant. He returned to Yountsville, CA and worked in a veteran?s home until his retirement in 1986, when he returned to Brainerd. He was a member of the VFW Post 1647 in Brainerd. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Vernon Fanjoy is survived by his wife Ila; three daughters Shirley Gauthier of Sanford, Maine, Dixie McCapes of Brainerd, and Robin Carbone of Napa, California; three sons John Fanjoy of Virginia, Robert Fanjoy of Brainerd, and James Fanjoy of Brainerd; two stepsons Larry Jones of Vallejo, California and Martin Jones of Vallejo, California; and a brother Gerald Fanjoy of Napa, California. His parents, a son Michael, and two brothers Stanley and Paul preceded him in death.
