Verna Hawkinson

Verna Mae (Violette) Hawkinson, born May 16, 1954 in Fosston, MN, lost her battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia and Supra Nuclear Palsy and on September 18, 2017 in Brainerd.

Verna Mae was a dedicated Wife, Loving Mother, Aunt, and Grandmother. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and selflessness. Family and friends were Verna Mae’s love and joy. She loved spending time at the lake, playing cards, listening to music and laughing with her family.

Verna Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Kay and Leonard Violette, as well as many aunts, uncles, and friends. Verna leaves behind her loving husband, Curt (Hawk) Hawkinson, and three caring daughters, Kelly (Kevin) Metz, Maureen (Andy) Hartung and Sara Hawkinson. She will be greatly missed by her two sisters, Carol Cushing and LaVonne Juhl. She also leaves behind her 8 grandchildren; Devon, Dylan, Devin, Violette, Veronica, Vinny, Izzy and Miles. In addition to a lot of caring relatives and friends.

All are welcome to join us in a celebration of her life at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, (6190 Fairview Road, Baxter, MN 56425) on Saturday, September 23rd. The visitation will start at 10AM, with the celebration at 11AM and a lunch to follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
