Verna Mae Gorzycki, age 88, of Pine River, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. She was born to Benjamin and Rose Gloege on July 25, 1923. Verna Mae grew up in Milbank, SD and later moved to Princeton, MN, then Minneapolis where she attended Edison High School. She married George Gorzycki on May 10, 1942, in Minneapolis. Verna Mae worked for Northern Pacific Railroad during World War II. She was a member of the Jenkins VFW and Pine River Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed gardening, playing games and cards, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and loved the outdoors.
Verna Mae is survived by her son, Dave Gorski; daughter, Jane Gorski (Terry Schmidt); five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; one great grandchild and one step-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; brothers Dale, Duane and infant brother, Donnie.
Services will be 11 AM on Wednesday, September 7, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, with Pastor Elaine Foote-Blum officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be 11 AM, Thursday, September 8 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
