Vern Wesley “Wes” Cline, of Hackensack, went to join the Lord peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 8, 2024.
Wes was 98 years young and known as the man who was always happy, spunky, and full of things to say.
Born in Menlo, Iowa, in 1925, he joined the Naval Air Force in 1942, where he faithfully defended our country as a bombardier in WW2. From there, he found the love of his life, Verlee, and they spent the next 76 years together. Wes and Verlee moved to Ten Mile Lake in 1959, and purchased Happiness Resort, where they spent 13 years making friends and raising their two sons, David and Jay. Wes loved traveling, buying new cars, fishing, snowmobiling, telling stories, and spending time with friends.
Wes was preceded in death by his five brothers and two sisters: Gerald, Opal, Velma, Willis, Leroy, and Howard; and his parents, Harvey and Katie.
Wes is survived by his wife, Verlee; two sons, David (Wendy) Cline and Jay (Julie) Cline, both of Hackensack; along with too many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren to name.
Wes was loved by all and will be truly missed.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River. A visitation will take place the hour prior.
