Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 18 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake with Military Honors performed by the Crosslake American Legion, Post #500.
Vern was born July 31, 1929, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Vern and Gladys (Duford) Johnson. Following his graduation from Edison High School, Vern enlisted in the US Army where he served as a paratrooper and a cook. Benefitting from the GI Bill, Vern attended Dunwoody Institute and worked for a few years as a Journeyman Mold Maker before partnering with a friend to create and operate Roma Tools and Plastics in the Metro Area. In 1961, he married Adele Glor and became an instant family man to her and her two children, Michael and Scott. Vern retired and the couple headed North to enjoy the outdoors - especially fishing - in the Remer and Outing Areas before calling Crosslake home.
Vern was an inventor - he loved to tinker in the garage and create "helpful" products Adele wasn't always too happy to make room for. He gardened and enjoyed socializing with his neighbors. When the cold weather hit, the couple traveled to Arizona where you could find Vern on the pickle ball court or playing bridge with friends. He was thoughtful, kind and very proud to be a small business owner. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Adele; sons, Michael (Pam) Glor, of Champlain and Scott (Laurie) Glor, of Sarona, WI; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
