Vera Sandberg

Vera Sandberg, age 98, of Pine River, passed away Sunday, November 9, at Brookside Comfort Care in Pine River. Vera was born to Jalmer and Helen Rudquist on June 15, 1916, in Cokato, MN.

Vera married Gordon Sandberg on Feb. 6, 1933, in Cokato. They farmed together near Cokato until 1956 when they moved to rural Pine River where they raised turkeys. Vera was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Pine River where she was a faithful lefse and meatball maker for the church's annual dinner. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Vera is survived by her children: Verna Jensen (Rollie) of Hutchinson, Gerald Sandberg (Judy) of Pine River, Carol Johnson of Mesa, AZ, David Sandberg (Wanda) of Pine River; sisters: Minnie Ackerblade, Deloris Karola; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; daughters: Virginia Alton, Deborah Bye; sisters: Dorothy Johnson, Myrtle Ludman, Gladys Pettet; brother, Melvin Rudquist; and son-in-law, Donny Johnson.

Services will be 2 PM on Thursday, Nov. 13, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
