Venetta Thomson, 95, of Dayton, MN and formerly of Motley, MN, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Dayton. Services for Venetta will be 11:00AM, Saturday, April 1st at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11 at the church. Interment will be at Motley Public Cemetery.
Venetta Emma Thomson was born July 2, 1921 in Browerville, MN to Charles and Ann (Stish) Obitz. She graduated from Browerville School. Venetta married George Thomson of Motley on January 12, 1941. They moved to Austin, MN in March of 1941. Venetta was employed at Hormel Meat Plant for 32 years. She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her family, and playing cards. Venetta was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the circle at St. Ann’s. Venetta and George were blessed with four children.
Venetta is survived by her children, Dennis (Michele) of Motley, Alan of Inver Grove Heights, Karen of New Prague, Ann (Mike) Buckley of Dayton; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; parents, Charles and Ann Obitz; brother, Ed; sisters, Sylvia Plotnik, Bernice Johnson, Geneva Stepaniak and Eileen Steinmetz. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
