Velma Kargel, 96, of Pequot Lakes, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd.
Velma and her twin sister Thelma were born April 27, 1921, to Loyd and Laura VanScoy on a farm west of Pequot Lakes. She married Leonard Kargel and they moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1938. They returned to Pequot Lakes in 1947 and operated Kargel Plumbing and Appliance and Self-Service Laundry until 1983. She loved Jesus and was a prayer warrior for her family and many residents of Pequot Lakes.
Survivors include: Wilretta (Clyde) Bloomer, Larry (Carol) Kargel, Naida Kargel, Myron (Nancy) Kargel, JoAnn Walker, Judy (Roger) Dwire, Mark (Lynette) Kargel; 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; sons, Richard and Charles; two infant great granddaughters; four sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from 11am to noon, followed by the service at noon, Saturday December 30 at Church of the Nazarene in Brainerd. Burial will be in Pequot Lakes Cemetery.
