Valerie Beck

Valerie Beck, age 79, of Crosby, died early Wednesday morning, September 27, 2006, at Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. A Memorial Service will be 12:00 PM Saturday, September 30, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids, MN.
Valerie was born on July 10, 1927, in Wells, MN, the daughter of Theodore and Alma (Weite) Amundson. She grew up with her grandparents and attended school in Wells. On March 11, 1944, she was united in marriage to George Beck in Albert Lea, MN. To this union 4 children were born. The family lived in southern Minnesota moving to the Twin Cities in the early 1950s. In 1985 she moved to Crosby to be near her sisters after George passed away in 1979. For the past three years she has been a resident of the Cuyuna Regional Care Center. Among the things she enjoyed were being with her family, gardening, and she was quite artistic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Alma; husband, George in 1979; a son, Jerry, grandson, Jerry Jr., a great grand daughter, Katrina; 2 brothers, Laverne and Duane; and a sister, Betty. Valerie is mourned in passing by her children, Karen (Frank) Monroe of Wauban, MN, Donald (Karen) Beck of Mesa, AZ, and Kenneth (Josie) Beck of Isle, MN; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Stencil of Crosby.
