Valere E. Byerly, 62, of Crosslake died on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her home after a long struggle with ALS. Services for Valere will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 4:00PM at Crosslake Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Valere was born on July 22, 1950 in Luverne, MN to Boyd and Evelyn (Loger) Iveland. She was raised in Luverne where she graduated from high school. Valere married Ernie Byerly on May 26, 1976 in Luverne, MN. They worked for Fingerhut in Minneapolis, MN before moving to Illinois in 1979. In 2003 they returned to the Crosslake area and owned and operated The Exchange for several years. Valere was a member of the Crosslake American Legion and Crosslake Lutheran Church.
Valere is survived by her husband, Ernie; mother, Evelyn Iveland of Luverne, MN; daughters, Megan Byerly of Danville, CA and Emily Berg of Aitkin, MN; granddaughter, Paige Valere Berg of Aitkin, MN; sisters, Dawn Petersen of Luverne, MN; Cheryl Heikes of Luverne, MN, and Maxine DePauw of Gurnee, IL; brother, Bryce Iveland of Little Falls, MN, and many nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to the ALS Foundation, MN Chapter.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake.
