Tommy Ross Naples, 78, of Crosslake, MN died Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Essentia Health in Brainerd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:30AM at the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake with Father Ryan Moravitz officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30AM at the church.
Tommy was born July 17, 1938 in Miles City, Montana and raised by Anthony and Evelyn (Stokes) Hythecker in Whitefish, Montana. He attained a GED and attended four years of college to become an Electronic Technician. Tommy served his country in the US Navy for four years, in the submarine service. On April 16, 1958 Tommy was united in marriage with Dorothy Hebel in San Francisco, California. In 1961 he secured a career at AT&T, then moved his family to Coon Rapids, MN a year later. They bought a cabin on Daggett Lake in Crosslake and moved North in 1993. Tommy retired from his position of Electronic Technician in July of 1990.
Tommy enjoyed motorcycling, tennis, hunting and fishing, downhill skiing as well as water skiing, but most of all, he had a passion for ballroom dancing with his loving wife – and they were quite the talented pair, leaving plenty of happy memories for their children.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Dorothy of 59 years; children, Ronnie Naples of Pequot Lakes, Deanna Naples of Brainerd, Steven Naples of Pequot Lakes; eight grandchildren, Jesse Naples, Trisha (Eric) Hahn, Sean (Dana) Naples, Matthew Naples, Justin Naples, Britnie (AJ) Soderholm, Andrew Wetzel, and Joey Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; his sister Leilani (Herb) Ketterling of Baker, MT, his brother Jerry (Sue) Hythecker of Texas; and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Evelyn Hythecker; his birth parents, Thompson Naples and Darlene Hythecker; and his sister Jackie Swenson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Crosslake, MN.
