Thomas Salfisberg

Tom Salfisberg, age 56, of Merrifield passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 5, 2017. Memorial services for Tom will be at Ossippee Community Church on Friday, January 13, at 11 AM. Visitation will be during the hour prior to services.

Thomas Allen Salfisberg was born April 5, 1960 in Brainerd, to Al and Jane (Oliphant) Salfisberg. He grew up in Leadville, Colorado, and started logging with his father in the mountains at a young age. He moved back to Minnesota in 1982. He was united in marriage to Lisa Russell on May 3, 2003, in Merrifield. Tom worked for Sawyer Timber for many years, and also worked as a mason for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club. He was a fan of Tony Stewart and the Denver Broncos.

Tom will be remembered and missed by his wife, Lisa; his mother, Jane Salfisberg; his parents-in-law, Temp, Sr. and Bertha Russell; two stepsons, Justin and Luke; four brothers, Bradley (Tami), John (Cathy), Sam (Molly), and Robert (Betty) Salfisberg; three sisters, Kim (Chris) Nylund, Kathy (David) Wead, and Kari Barnes; a brother-in-law, Temp Jr. (Kari) Russell; and two sisters-in-law, Tracy (Tim) Spaid and Sandra Skilling; many nieces and nephews; and his furbabies, Bean and Bear. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother-in-law, James Skilling. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
