Thelma Nona (Wynn) Satre passed away on January 17, 2018, at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, at the age of 77. Thelma was born in Brainerd on August 21, 1940, to William and Amy (Richards) Wynn, the youngest of 8 children. She spent most of her life in the Pine River area. Thelma married Gerald "Jerry" King on February 16, 1959, and from this union were born her four children: Rocky Cliff, Nona Marie, Randy Joe and Jeffery Allen. Thelma worked various jobs throughout her life, but mainly served the elderly in her capacity as a CNA at the Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Pine River. Thelma enjoyed socializing with family and friends and always appreciated a good dessert, especially ice cream - her favorite.
Thelma is lovingly remembered by all who knew her. The close relationship she had with son, Randy King, was very special to her as he served as her right arm in so many ways. Her relationship with grandson, Jeremy Fierst, filled her heart with joy and left an imprint on his life that will be treasured forever.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children: Rocky (Barbara) King of Crosslake, Nona (Vernon) Iverson of Nevis, Randy King of Outing, Jeffery (Renee) King of Outing; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Gleva Girard; as well as extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be 11 AM on Saturday, January 27, at Backus Church of the Nazarene, 618 State 371 NW, Backus, with Pastor John Rister officiating. There will be no interment. A lunch will be served immediately following the service.
