Thelma Halbmaier

Thelma Margaret Halbmaier, 89, of Brainerd, MN died on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, MN. A Private Family Gathering will be held at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Hackensack, MN.

Thelma was born on August 4, 1925 in Waterloo, Iowa to Nicholas and Margaret (Hansen) Schuster. She graduated from Waterloo High School and was united into marriage on November 29, 1947 to John (Jack) Halbmaier. Thelma and Jack raised their children in Winnebago, MN. Thelma was the office manager at the Winnebago Hospital before she and Jack retired to Birch Lake in Hackensack, MN. They later spent many years living in McAllen, TX. After Jack's death, Thelma moved to Montevideo, MN to be closer to her family and in August 2014 moved back to the Brainerd Lakes Area. Thelma was very active in the Catholic Church and especially committed to the devotion of Divine Mercy. She enjoyed painting, bridge, cards, reading, and family vacations.

Thelma is survived by her children, John (Barbara) Halbmaier of Windham, NH, Judy (Brian) Doty of Caledonia, MN, Joanne (Lowell) Comstock of Baxter, MN Jeff (Diane) Halbmaier of Montevideo, MN, and Jim (Nancy) Halbmaier of LeSueur, MN; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack in 2007; and sister, June. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
