Terry Prettyman

Terry Lee Prettyman, 67, died October 15, 2016 at home from heart failure. Terry lived in Brainerd, MN his whole life where he raised hell, but grew up to be a good and Godly man. When he was 19 he married Linda Bertram and stayed married to her his entire life. They were blessed with four children who Terry loved deeply. He was a kind, courteous and hard working man. Terry liked to laugh and was a good provider to his family. Terry enjoyed reading, music, animals, trucks, motorcycles, playing pool, dominoes and Yahtzee, woodworking, and yard work. Terry could build or repair just about anything. He was known for his big beard, long hair and rugged appearance but he had the softest heart around.

Terry served from his heart. He was an active church member and over the years he had been an usher, trustee, deacon, elder, and church chairman. Other accomplishments include being a master gardener, volunteer with Mounted Eagles, Lakes Area Restorative Justice Program, Woodland Good Samaritan and Police Academy. He had been a volunteer at Harrison School where he loved to play Santa. He received the Education Volunteer of the Year award in 1992. He unloaded the delivery truck at the Soup Kitchen for the last 13 years. Terry had worked at Minnesota Learning Center and liked to run into his former students.

Survived by wife Linda; son John; grandson Aiden; granddaughter Adison; daughter Carla and husband Bret; daughter Sara. Daughter Laura died in 2013. Brother Larry Prettyman; Sister and Brother-in-law Rita and Jim Carney; Brother and Sister-in-law Bruce and Bonney Bertram; nephews Shane and Tyler Bertram; and mother-in-law Vera Bertram; his Communitas Family and a million friends.

Please join us for a Celebration of Terry's life on Friday, October 21st at 3 PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN with visitation starting at 1:00 PM. Please bring a memory to share. We were so blessed to have Terry. We will always remember him and miss him more than words can say. "Men who walk with God never walk alone."
