Terri Darlene Abbas, 68, of Staples, quietly entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family in her home on Easter Sunday March 27, 2016.
Visitation will be at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples on Friday April 8th, 2016 from 5-�8pm and again, one hour prior to the funeral service. The Funeral service will be at the Staples United Methodist Church on Saturday April 9th, 2016 at 11am with Pastor Greg Ciesluk officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery also in Staples with lunch at the church to follow.
Terri was born on February 29, 1948 to the late Albert and Glenda (McGillvray) Bittner in Tacoma, WA. She lived in various places while her family relocated wherever they had employment opportunities. They lived in Washington, Idaho and California but primarily she spent her childhood in Minnesota. Having had a tight knit family, in latter years Terri and her siblings worked along with their parents at The Silver Dollar Cafe which they owned in downtown Staples.
On July 30th, 1966 Terri and the late Galen Abbas Sr. were united in marriage at the First Methodist Church of Staples. They were blessed with two boys Galen Jr. and John whom they both adored. Terri was a homemaker most of her life and loved being a mom and doting grandma, always doing extra special little things we all will remember and cherish. Terri was always helping out her family and friends. After completing cosmetology at Wadena Area Vocational�Technical Institute in 1980 she enjoyed working in Brainerd using those skills. She also worked at Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union as a teller and loved taking care of children doing in home daycare for many years. Terri enjoyed reading, ceramics, macrame', knitting, crocheting, cooking, birds and gardening.
Terri is survived by her two sons, Galen Jr. (Charlene) Abbas and John Abbas, both of Staples; two grandchildren, Jay Robben and Kallee Abbas; sisters Darla (Bernie) Schwindt of Long Beach, CA, Mickie Karakash of Bothell, WA, Gloria Potter of Enumclaw, WA, Kathleen Bittner� Roth of Budapest, Hungary; Special friend Vern Rinerson of Staples; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Terri was preceded in death by her husband Galen Sr., parents, brother Richard, nephew Wayne, brothers in law Mick Karakash and Hans Roth. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
