Teresa Faust, of Nisswa, passed away at her home Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 22 at Lutheran Church of the Cross (5064 County Road 13 - Nisswa, MN 56468). Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services and stay for a light lunch to follow. Private interment will be held. Memorials preferred to MOCA (Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance - 4604 Chicago Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55407).
Teresa received her Bachelor's of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota School of Journalism. In addition, she graduated from the Event Management and Event Tourism at the University of Minnesota Tourism Center. For 33 years, Teresa lived in the Twin Cities where she spent her professional career working in areas of public relations, media relations, event planning, advertising, marketing, and sales for a variety of companies and organizations including the Minneapolis Aquatennial Association, Valleyfair Amusement Park, Transglobal Vacations, Gourmet Award Foods, and others. Just prior to moving to Nisswa, she was a writer for President Mark Yudof of the University of Minnesota.
After moving to Nisswa 11 years ago, she worked as the Community Relations Coordinator for Good Samaritan - Brainerd. Teresa then became the Executive Director of the Nisswa Chamber of Commerce, and has been active in numerous clubs and non-profit organizations including serving as Chair of the Christmas Tour of Homes. She also managed the Compliments/Artgarbs shop in Nisswa.
She has been the Nisswa Women's Club Publicity Chair for several years and has modeled in the fashion show. As President - Elect in 2001, she chaired the fashion show, and served as President in 2012. As the current Past-President, she was in an advisory capacity on the Board of Directors.
Teresa was named the 2010 Nisswa Citizen of the Year. She was a member of the City of Nisswa Planning and Zoning Commission, Advisory Board of the Echo Newspaper, Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance Board in the Twin Cities, and was recently appointed to the planning committee for the 2014 Governor's Fishing Opener Community Picnic to be held in Nisswa.
Teresa will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband, Dave; mother, Vi Hollenbeck; son, Rob Reed, of Boulder, CO; sisters, Diane (Bob) Gihl, of Shoreview and Peggy Koivisto, of Pequot Lakes; brother, Rob (Suzy Watson) Hollenbeck, of Dallas, TX; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Dick Hollenbeck.
