Ted Carpenter

Ted Carpenter, age 82, of Longville, passed away on December 5, 2023. Ted was born on February 18, 1941, to Cecil and Dorothy Carpenter in Walker, MN. 

Ted worked for Cass County Highway Dept, was co-owner of C & T Grocery and owner of Ted’s Sanitation. He was a longtime volunteer firefighter for the Longville Fire Dept. and belonged to the Northland Lions. Ted was a regular at the morning coffee table at the One Stop. 

Ted graduated from Longville High School in 1959 and married Gail Gothmann on August 19, 1961. 

Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gail;, mother, Dorothy Carpenter Baird of Longville/Florida; his children: Lynn (Dale) Daudt of Jenkins, Shannon (John L) Hilts of Pequot Lakes, Bob (Missy) Carpenter of Breezy Point; grandchildren: Kari, Brandon, Jason, Jacob, Dana, Jared and Jordan; great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Brogen, Jaxon, Brooks, Jayce, Tate and Ava; brother, Jerry (Jan) Carpenter of Longville; sister, Sue Grassin of Florida; brothers-in-law: Bob Gothmann, Gene Olson, Steve Gothmann; sisters-in-law: Donna Gustafson, Diana Slagle and Paula Carpenter; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Ted was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Carpenter; daughter, Brenda Carpenter; brother, Calvin Carpenter; brothers-in-law, Dr. Fred Grassin, Denny Gothmann; sister-in-law, Mary Olson; mother-In-law, Vi Chatfield; father-in-law, Jerry Gothmann; and nephew, Jerry Kelly. 

A gathering of family and friends in memory of Ted will be held at Patrick’s in Longville on Saturday, January 13 from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM.
