Susan McAllister, age 68, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at her home in Menahga after a courageous two-year battle against a rare form of lung cancer. She was born to Leroy and Marvel Kicker of Pine River, MN on May 13, 1953. Sue grew up in Pine River with her brothers and sisters: Laurence (Pat) Kicker, Naomi (Roger) Holden, Clarissa (Bill) Harris, Sam (Carol) Kicker and Barb (Mike) Williamson. She graduated from Pine River High School in 1971 and on July 31st of that year married Frank McAllister.
Frank and Sue enjoyed 50 beautiful years of adventures together. They moved to Alaska and resided in Palmer for six years filled with raising a family, running a business, fishing, hunting, and exploring the beautiful outdoors. Upon their return to Pine River, they worked together growing their outdoor equipment business. From there they embarked on a career together in real estate between Pine River and Paisley, Florida and Menahga, Minnesota. The pair was inseparable.
Sue also worked in the Riverview Church office assisting pastors and parishioners. Her deep faith grounded all that she enjoyed, from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family to quilting, gardening, camping and cooking for her family.
Susan is survived by her husband, Frank; daughters, Deborah (Tim) Shaikoski and Danelle (Nathan) Walberg; grandchildren: Alexander (Emily) Shaikoski, Joshua (Rebecca) Shaikoski, Lucas McCoy, Alison Walberg, Claire Shaikoski, Zachary Walberg and Jacob Walberg; great granddaughter, Alice Shaikoski. Susan is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she cared for deeply.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Marvel Kicker; sister, Elvie Kicker; and son, Dale McAllister.
At this time our family would like to express our deepest gratitude and sincerest thanks to Knute Nelson Hospice Care, who selflessly gave of themselves, helping us navigate through some dark and uncertain times.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 26 at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River from 4:00-6:00 pm and on Sunday, February 27 at Riverview Church, Pine River at 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm at Riverview Church.
