Steven Engebretson

Steven Marlow Engebretson, 62, of Staples passed away unexpectedly April 10, 2014 at his home. Services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services.

Steven was born January 28, 1952, in Bagley, MN, the son of Einar and Lorraine (Huddleston) Engebretson. Following school, he worked as a truck driver for 30 years and also the City of Elk River for 10 years. He was united in marriage to Barbara Hurley on October 22, 1971. He enjoyed watching wrestling, football and car shows. He also liked tinkering in the garage. Steven loved his dogs, feeding birds, visiting the casino, playing Wist, barbequing, and making fudge and brownies. Spending time with his family was the most important to Steven.

He will be missed by his children, Mike (Brenda), of New York Mills, Lori (Kyle) Cherne, of Brainerd, Missy (Joe) Engebretson, of Melrose, Brian, of Hackensack, and Scott (Jackie), of Staples; twenty-four grandchildren; and his siblings, Arlys Skarison, Ellen Strand, Judy Johnson, and David (Marty) Engebretson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; and sister, Susan.
