Steve Duane Meyer was born to Dolores Dorothy (Jeche) and Norman Meyer in their rural Wykoff, MN, home on October 29, 1955. He grew up on the farm, attended St. John’s Lutheran School through 8th grade, and graduated from Wykoff High School with the class of ‘74.
Steve married Connie Baugh in 1975. The couple made their home adjacent to the family farm where they raised their four children: Jenny, Mike, Mandy, and Scott.
Steve spent his life working the family farm. He also worked for many years doing construction. During his hard-earned downtime, Steve enjoyed the outdoors; spending time teaching his kids and his grandchildren how to hunt and fish. Many summer vacation days were spent “up north” in Crosslake, MN where the family camped and fished. He entered the annual fishing tournament for many years and enjoyed watching his sons carry on the tradition. His love for the outdoors is his legacy.
Upon retirement, Steve moved to Crosslake where he built a home that he shared with his better half, Deb, and their puppy Mollie Mae. He enjoyed spending time around the campfire, visiting with friends, and continued hunting and fishing.
On November 15, 2021, Steve passed peacefully into eternity surrounded by those he loved the most.
Steve is survived by his significant other, Deb Flategraff of Crosslake, MN; children: Jen (Bryan) Swenson of Dilworth, MN, Mike (Crystal Nauman) Meyer of Dodge Center, MN, Mandy (Mike) Balvanz of Osage, IA, and Scott (Lindsay) Meyer of Grand Meadow, MN; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Byron Papenfus of Racine, MN; 1 niece; 1 nephew; many cousins, friends, and his beloved pup Mollie Mae. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Dorothy Meyer; sister, Julie Papenfus; grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wykoff, MN on Saturday, November 20. Visitation from 2:00-3:00 with service to follow at 3:00. A celebration of life will be held starting at 4:00 at Shooter’s in Wykoff.
