Stanley Bettis

Stanley Bettis, 80, of Motley, MN arrived in Heaven on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Services for Stanley will be 11:00AM, Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln, MN with Pastors Jim Brown and Dan Crocker officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 5:00-7:00PM, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the church and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Motley Public Cemetery in Motley, MN.

Stanley arrived on Earth on September 4, 1935 to Everett and Pansy (Carter) Bettis in Allerton, Iowa. He graduated from Lineville High School in Lineville, Iowa. Stanley was united in marriage to Joana Nickell on November 22, 1953 in Lineville, Iowa. He worked for General Motors in Kansas City, KS and later moved to Jasper, Indiana and worked for a gas company. Stanley and Joana later moved to Scandia Valley Township and worked for the gas company for 36 years until his retirement. Stanley was active in the Lincoln Evangelical Free Church where he served as a Deacon, was a past member of the Scandia Valley Fire Department, the Township Board, and the School Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fix-it-man, tractors, his hobby farm and his pets. Stanley was a great father and loving husband. He was a patient and optimistic man who enjoyed life and saw the best in everyone, but he especially loved his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Joana; children, Mark (Sue) Bettis of Motley, MN, Kirk (Jun) Bettis of Motley, MN, Tonya (Terry) Carlson of Little Falls, MN; brother, Steven (Deb) Bettis of AZ; sister, Connie Morris of IA; eight grandchildren, Trevor, Shannon, J.R., Becky, Jennifer, Nathan, Sarah, and Audrey; ten great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Pansy; brother, Leonard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
