Sonja Bencker

Sonja J. Bencker, 89, of Cushing, MN passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2016 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Services for Sonja will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN with visitation beginning at 1:30PM. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 3:00PM

Sonja was born on December 25, 1927 in Barnesville, MN to Norman and Gina (Solum) Stubstad. She married Herbert Bencker on December 17, 1949. Sonja worked various jobs as a cashier and health aid. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Red Hat Society. Sonja enjoyed fishing, gardening, and helping at St. Otto's. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Sonja is survived by her son, Allen (Kathy) of Robbinsdale, MN; daughter, Diane (Dan) of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Shawn, Philip, Beth, and Aric; great-grandchildren, Noah and Kaia; honorary granddaughter, Deserah; honorary grandson, Jackson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert; daughter, Laurie; granddaughter, Corinne; brothers, Orvin and Charlie; sisters, Sharon and Marlys; and nephew, Steven Keppel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
