Shirley A. Thompson, age 82, Staples, died Friday, 8-10-2018 at the Lakewood Health Systems Care Center in Staples. The memorial service for Shirley will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, 8-14-2018 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples, with Pastor Carl Larson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Monday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place at Evergreen Hill Cemetery following the service.
Shirley Miller was born on September 30, 1935 at Bertha, MN, daughter of Harry and Mamie (Cole) Miller. She grew up on a farm south of Staples and graduated from Staples High School in 1953. She later received her Associates Degree in Accounting. She married Willard Redemske on July 20, 1957 at the Staples United Methodist Church. They made their home in Staples and she worked at the Staples State Bank for thirty-three years, retiring in 1996. Willard died May 23, 1982.
She married Wallace Thompson on July 1, 1995 at the Staples United Methodist Church. Following her retirement, they wintered in Arizona. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and playing cards. While in Arizona, they ushered at football games at Arizona State University as a Lion’s Fundraiser.
She is survived by her husband: Wally Thompson of Staples; her sons and daughter: Mark (Paula) Redemske of Maple Lake, Craig (Jodi) Redemske of Maple Grove, Ronn Redemske of Staples, MN and LeAnn (Brian) Haroldson of Mt. Horeb, WI; eleven grandchildren; a brother: Carroll (Donna) Miller of Bertha, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Mamie; four siblings: Eldon Miller, Derald Miller, Blayne Miller and Arlene Conley; and her husbands: Willard Redemske and Harold Falk.
