Shirley Soeffner

Shirley A. Soeffner, age 78, of Staples passed away late Friday evening at the Lakewood Healthcare Hospital. Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 16, at the United Methodist Church in Staples. Interment will be at a later date in the Moran Germania Cemetery. Friends may call for one hour prior to Services at the Church on Monday. Shirley Ann Soeffner was born on June 21, 1928, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Fred and Ann (Roline) Hanneman. She was called from this life Friday evening at the Lakewood Healthcare Hospital. She attained the age of 78 years, 9 months, and 15 days. Shirley grew up and attended school in Detroit. She moved with her family to Moran Township in 1944. On October 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Alvin E. Soeffner in Clarissa, MN. To this union 2 children, Linda and Bruce, were born. Alvin passed away on June 7, 1980. She lived in Staples, San Francisco, Minneapolis, and Champaign, IL, before returning to Staples in 1999. She has been a resident of the Lakewood Care Center for the past few years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; and a sister, Betty. Shirley is mourned in passing by her children, Linda (William) Bates of Cushing, and Bruce (Rita) Soeffner of Clearwater, MN; 3 grand daughters, Lori, Lisa and Jennifer; and five great grandchildren, Caleb, Greta, Madelyn, Elisabeth, and Erin.
